This Surprising Spicy Dish Is Said To Induce Labor And Real Women Are Saying It Works

spicy pizza that induces birth mom holds baby

You want that kid OUT OF YOU. It has been gestating for plenty of time, thank you, and it needs to hit the eject button so you can welcome it into the world. The key to finally giving birth might be in picking up the right spicy pizza that induces birth. Yeah, you read that right—there’s a spicy pizza that induces birth. One pizza chain has garnered a reputation for a pizza with toppings so spicy that it’s causing women to give birth. This isn’t just a coincidence, either. It has happened to MULTIPLE women.

Hawthorne’s New York Pizza and Bar, a chain of restaurants in North Carolina, is gaining this odd reputation because of its Buffalo Wing Pizza. For some strange reason, the combination of spices in this pizza has been shown to induce labor.

“I had always heard spicy foods could do it, so we ordered the pizza at 6 p.m. and by 10 that night, I was in labor,” new mother Ali Aldrich told People. Aldrich went on to say that the same thing happened to a pregnant neighbor a few weeks later. She had eaten the same pizza. The craze grew from there, to the point that women who were (very understandably) sick of being pregnant used the pizza to start the process.

Hawthorne’s New York Pizza and Bar has 100% embraced this craze, nicknaming the Buffalo Wing Pizza, "The Inducer.” While the chain is happy with the publicity, co-owner John Adams will not divulge the ingredients in the pizza sauce. It’s not overly spicy, but he claims their secret combination of spices is coincidentally just the right ratio to induce labor.

Whatever is in that crazy sauce, it only takes a few hours to work its magic. New moms have been giving birth the same night they ate the pizza.

The takeaway here is that if you are desperate to hold your baby in your arms, you need to pig out on some Buffalo Wing Pizza. Hey, there are probably some much weirder, and much worse things you could do to get that baby out, right? Pizza sounds like a great option.
